Glossary
A quick reference for the terms you'll meet throughout StarCards. A few words mean different things in different parts of the app — those are called out explicitly below.
Cards & organizing
- Card — the basic unit of StarCards. Every card is shaped like a five-pointed star whose points spell CARDS: Card Info, Attachments, Related, Decks, Settings & Share. See Filling Your Card.
- Daily Card — the one card created for you automatically each day. It locks at midnight and anchors that day's journal. See The Daily Card.
- Deck — a named collection of cards (cards only). You assign cards to Decks from a card's Point 4. Two system Decks exist and can't be deleted: Daily (every daily card) and StarStats (every Stat Card). See Decks.
- Star Tag — a freeform label that can be applied to both cards and tasks — the same tag can sit on a card and a task. On a card, Star Tags live on Point 3 (Related). Don't confuse these with Star Lists. See Tags & Due Dates.
- Archive — where cards and tasks go when you archive them: still searchable and filterable, and restorable anytime. See Archive.
Tasks & focus
- Task — a to-do that moves through three columns: Do → Doing → Did. See Tasks.
- Star List — a named bucket that groups tasks (tasks only — a task belongs to one list). Star Lists are for tasks the way Decks are for cards. See Star Lists.
- Pomodoro — a 25-minute focused work session you run against a task from the Timer.
StarCatcher (the game)
- StarCatcher — the weekly, baseball-inspired game powered by the tasks you complete. See StarCatcher.
- Catch quality — how cleanly you caught a pitch, from lowest to highest: Flare → Nova → Supernova → Galaxy.
- Boost — a one-use power-up: Voodoo Throw (forces the throw type to match your guess), Power Boost (widens the catch circle), and Down the Middle (forces a center throw). See Boosts.
- Player tier — your overall standing, from lowest to highest: Rookie → Starter → All-Star → Legend → Hall of Fame.
"Series" means two different things
- In StarCatcher, a series is a single game's life — you're out of that game once you take three strikes.
- In Stats, a Series is a named tracking period (daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, yearly) that accumulates your stats and produces a Stat Card when it closes. See Series.
These are unrelated. When in doubt, "Stats Series" = a time period; "game series" = one game.
Stats & scoring
RAD (Radiance)
Your RAD score (short for Radiance) is a 0–100 measure of how you're performing. It's driven mainly by how well you catch in StarCatcher — a Galaxy catch is worth the most, a Fallen Star the least — plus small bonuses for your login streak, completed Pomodoros, task variety, and catch streak. Period RAD (weekly, monthly, etc.) is a games-weighted average of your daily scores. See Stat Cards.
- Stat Card — a read-only snapshot the app generates at the end of each Stats Series, summarizing your RAD, catch rate, and more. The app also calls these StarStat cards; they collect in the StarStats Deck and your Archive. See Stat Cards.
- Streak — your run of consecutive days that each have a login and a collected Daily Card. Miss a day and it resets. See Streaks.
